Dr. Jim Kronstad announced as a CIFAR fellow
On July 15, 2019, CIFAR announced 112 new fellows and program advisors appointed across four research themes: Life & Health, Individuals & Society, Information & Matter, and Earth & Space. Dr. Jim Kronstad, Professor at the Michael Smith Laboratories, was one of the new fellows appointed to the Fungal Kingdom: Threats & Opportunities program within the Life & Health research theme. This appointment is a prestigious honour as CIFAR brings together the greatest minds from all over the world to share and critique preliminary findings and data, and to gain insights from peers across various disciplines.
CIFAR is a Canadian-based global charitable organization that convenes extraordinary minds to address science’s and humanity’s most important questions. The environment of intellectual freedom afforded by CIFAR fosters deep collaboration and trust between program members.
Dr. Jim Kronstad joins the likes of other Michael Smith Laboratories’ faculty members such as Dr. Brett Finlay and Dr. Phil Hieter, who are also CIFAR fellows.
